Here's a beautiful hand manipulated lace that can be done on any machine. The variations are endless.  Add more stitches between the columns, transfer the "vines" randomly, or at smaller or larger intervals.

For a different look, run the vines across with only 1 needle out of work at a time.

One stitch pattern .... 3 ways.

Looking for something new?  Try different variations on a stitch pattern.

This is a basic 4 row tuck stitch that can be done on any machine.

Add a single row of a contrasting color.

Both knit side and purl side are beautiful!

Lots of yarn ends with knitting a single row of color, but soooo worth it!

Alternating 4 rows for stripes of color.

Do you need more width for your knitted pieces?

Being limited to the number of needles on your needlebed doesn't mean you can only knit sweaters that are 36" around!

Did you know that tuck stitch creates wider fabric?

Same yarn, same tension, 40 stitches x 60 rows

Still need more width?  Subscribers: Check out these videos

Have you noticed that many of the knitted shawl/poncho patterns that we see in the magazines are just a plain 'ol rectangle? The designer chose a fabulous fabric or yarn with an interesting stitch pattern.

Search for "poncho" on any fashion website and you'll see some version of a rectangle (draped around a gorgeous model).

With our machines we can whip these up in no time!

Armed with your gauge swatch and the FREE Rectangle Tool, you'll be enjoying your poncho in no time!

Last year's hats (over 1,150 hats!) went to some elementary schools, senior citizens, homeless shelters, food kitchens, local town office for Christmas Baskets and other needy citizens. You should have seen the happy faces on the children, especially when they found out they could keep them. They were worn with pride.

Make it in a weekend - easy knitting!

This weekend Matt and his wife were doing a little shopping. Since being involved with Knit it Now, he's always on the lookout for knits and yarn.

He called me all excited about something they found.  During the video chat, he told me how easy the shawl/poncho would be to knit.  Isn't it funny when a non-knitter tells you how easy something is?

Anyways, he was right. We added this as a new weekend project.  Honestly, a long rectangle and one seam ... how much easier can you get?

I love the shape. Fussing with shawls and shawl pins is not my thing .... pop this one over your head and it stays put ... while keeping your shoulders warm.  Perfect for air-conditioned theaters. It also leaves your hands free when the temp dips in your office.

I'm planning one in a Fisherman Rib or English Rib - laceweight Jaggerspun Zephyr Wool/Silk .... yummmm!!

What stitch pattern and yarn will you choose?
